What a hero!

Two days ago, at the junction of Choa Chu Kang Street 52 and Choa Chu Kang North 6, a maid sacrificed herself to save the younger of her employer's two daughters. They were crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing when the maid, a little in front of her employer Madam Lau, saw a bus coming her way and flung the one-year old child in her hand in front to safety. She was then run down by the bus as it was too late for her to get out of harm's way. She was taken to NUH later but tragically died that night.
In my opinion, this maid is a hero who deserves great commendation. She is a person who has a heart of gold. When she saw the impending danger, her first thoughts were not about her own safety, but of the safety of the little girl in her arms. She did not hesitate to fling the girl to safety when most people would have dropped the girl and leapt away to safety. Her willingness to sacrifice herself for the girl, to put others before her is a quality that is extremely hard to find and more precious than any precious stones.
